Due to the strict building code requirements, the construction industry is “always very sluggish towards innovations,” explains office owner Dr. Siebert. Unconventional ideas and projects have to be approved separately, for example, through consent in individual cases (ZiE). This discourages many entrepreneurs from implementing their ideas. To lower these hurdles, the engineering firm advocates an open approach to new construction methods and materials. “It is no longer permissible to think only in terms of the classic university disciplines of steel construction, concrete construction and wood. The practice has now become much more diverse. This also includes the construction methods of additive and adaptive manufacturing. For the future, we would like to see a more flexible approach to new topics,” says Dr. Siebert.
