Wire-and-Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) is a metal-based AM technology that offers a viable opportunity to build a new generation of efficient steel structures, thanks to the freedom in printing almost any geometry. Lattice structures, well known for their high stiffness and reduced weight, have been hampered in their scale by the issue of the connection of branches at nodes. Thus, the ambition of this research is to design and fabricate a new generation of lattice structures at the scale of the element (i.e. meso-scale) with WAAM technology through the definition of a computational design and fabrication framework ad-hoc developed.
