Additive manufacturing (AM) is explored for a node system that can be applied with a commercial facade system to enable freeform construction. Designs are developed for three steel AM technologies. Results are compared to typical nodes in term of design freedom, structural performance, fabrication, and sustainability.
AM is also used to produce gaskets. These mass-customized gaskets provide air and water-tight seals for complex geometry while providing a standard joint that reduces manual work on-site.
The construction of a full-scale freeform facades is under production.
