For each sintered glass body of a specific glass feedthrough, a specially made tool is needed. This is very expensive. Out of the need to be able to offer customers attractive prices even for small batches, the topic of additive manufacturing of glass found its way into the company. In order to “continuously develop its own processes and learn about new processes from additive manufacturing,” IL Metronic Sensortechnik GmbH became a partner in the ZIM innovation network “AMglass+” in 2020. The company was founded in 1992 as a spin-off of the VEB Werk Elektroglas by Dr. Hansch together with his colleagues Dr. Altstadt, Mr. Kirchhoff and Mr. Conrad. Since then, the in-house production and development department has already been dealing with customer-specific solutions for glass feedthroughs. Furthermore, the focus was on humidity sensor technology, but this changed in the almost 30 years corresponding to customer needs to UV sensor technology.

IL Metronic Sensortechnik GmbH
With its foundation in 1992, IL Metronic Sensortechnik GmbH continued a 30-year tradition in the production of glass feedthroughs for sensor technology. Until today, the business fields of IL Metronic Sensortechnik GmbH are customer-specific applications in the fields of pressure, humidity and UV sensor technology. In these fields, the company’s product portfolio ranges from sensors, sensor modules to electronic devices, which are developed, manufactured and distributed by IL Metronic Sensortechnik GmbH. Here, the 80-strong team of engineers and highly qualified specialists repeatedly demonstrates its innovative ability.
